KDU College Penang, voices from alumni !

Suddenly saw the post that written 1 year ago, half-way of my course, and i think i should finish it right now. Times flies, 11 years of free education had come to an end.
It's your turn to make the first decision of your life -- your tertiary education.

Except of choosing the right course, which later lead you to the right path, it is also very important to choose the right college

As an graduate of Diploma of Mass Communication, which also an alumni of KDU College Penang, shall I shared some of my experiences?

About the course
you know la, sometimes mass comm is not considered as a "professional profession", and it doesn't directly lead you to your profession like study Law=Lawyer; Medicine = Doctor. Definitely, your parents will be very worry about your future (like mine is so damn worry).

About the course offered in KDU
not sure what are they offering right now, but during my time it will be Diploma in Mass Communication. Normally, the counselor will advice you to take this course if you are not sure about your future. Well, basically there are 4 fields under Mass Comm : Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relation and also Advertising.
Although Mass Comm has it all, but not really that all, because from what I had learned is mostly based on Advertising. There is about 22 main subjects offer in this program, half and above is related to advertising field, and because of this I KNOW ADVERTISING IS NOT MY CUP OF TEA! HAHA!!  ;D

About the program quality

                                                *Directly crop from KDU website
As been mentioned earlier, because we are not professional course, thus attention given by the college is always lesser than others. Why said so? because all we do is Study, study and also study. No seminar, No extra sources, No event, No....... Okay, KDU will fight back " Hello we have a professional radio studio for Mass Comm!" but hello back to them, "We can only use it in the fourth semester - Intro to Radio Production (*which almost destroy my dream of being an event planner! NIGHTMARE!)The booking schedule is always Full, because there is always junior study the subject and have class inside the radio studio. so bla bla bla bla.............

Furthermore, the core problem of this program --LACK OF LECTURER. We will have one same lecturer teaching 1/2 of subjects in that particular semester, and almost 2/5 subject of the whole course! you think all lecturer are GOD ar? you think they expert in every field ar? PUT more effort on searching he right person to teach the right course! Stop spending money on searching unrelated ambassador !! ==

About the College quality

                                   * Lecture theater hall, one of the best thing in college

Location -- Located at the heart of Penang, traffic is horrible, parking space is limited, parking fee is SCARY! There is private parking space next to the TnB building, last time was RM 2 per entry, now? I think RM4? Too expensive and choose to park roadside? If you think Saman is okay, then go ahead, i won't stop you.

Food -- During 2010-2012 time, there are only 2 stalls in the canteen. Very limited choices.

Facilities -- Library, Computer lab, 2 Lecture Hall and etc

Parking -- Limited, very limited. never dream that you will be able to park inside college.

Design -- I guess they did pretty well on this.

Others
i did not attend my graduation ceremony because of 2 reasons, 1-- Im studying Degree, i think degree ceremony is more important?  2-- the fee, expensive. RM800 !! like hello, isn't this a little too much? Even the most expensive Uni in Malaysia, Taylor's is only RM500.
Too stupid to attend.

Certificate -- AHHAHAH!! let me share something interesting to all of you. I got informed by KDU that my certificate has not certified by the College, so it means it is not ORIGINAL! then i need to go back to KDU, and require for the cop. LIKE WTF, seriously, WTF 5 stars college? PLEASE!

Branches?-- Another interesting facts to share, even thought there are 2 branches under KDU ( one is penang, another in PJ) BUT THERE IS NOT CONNECTION between them! I remember I went to consult PJ branch when i am choosing Which Uni to join. The PIC told me they hv no idea what's Penang Branch is doing because they are different, no matter in management or course that offer. WHAT!!!!!

Conclusion

Well, ofcourse above opinions are very subjective. You know lah, student love to complain, even now studying in Taylors i also got alot to complain! AHHA
This is my own opinion about the college. lots of improvement need to be done. Most of the time, we the students care too much about the facilities, the outlook of the college, but to be truth, this isn't important. What most important to you is the what they can provide for your course. Lecture isn't enough, you need extra activities, more talk, more experience in order to  learn. Trust me,  BOOKS and NOTES is not enough!

so good luck everyone! happy choosing ;)
